Egyptian wood mask

New Kingdom

Finely carved wood mask from a sarcophagus. The facial details are very delicate and a light smile is hovering on his lips. All the paint is now missing and the wood grain appears, showing a wonderful honey-colored patina.

Egypt, New Kindom, probably 19th dynasty, circa 1291 – 1185 BC
